One-Month Weather Outlook

Temperatures next week will be normal or cooler, but then move higher in the following week, and remain above normal during the succeeding two weeks.  Normal to above normal rainfall amounts are predicted for the Ohio River Valley, but below normal precipitation is expected elsewhere.

White Mold Risk Summary

Conditions are moderately suitable to white mold infections on late-planted soybeans in far northern areas of the forecast map.

Next 2-week risk interpretation

Over the next two weeks conditions are moderately favorable for white mold in southern Canada and the northern counties of the northern states.  In at-risk areas spray an efficacious fungicide before the canopy closes, as protecting the flowers under the canopy becomes much more difficult after canopy closure.

Brown Spot Risk Summary

The risk of brown spot is moderate to high across the Corn Belt

Next 2-week risk interpretation

For the next two weeks weather conditions are favorable to highly favorable for brown spot development across most of the Midwest.  Scout fields and look for upward development of this disease in the canopy.  Consider treatment if brown spot is found in the mid to upper canopy before R5.

Frogeye Leaf Spot Risk Summary

The risk of frogeye leaf spot is moderate south I-80 and high south of I-74.

Next 2-week risk interpretation

During the next two weeks weather conditions are moderately favorable to highly favorable across the I-states, MO, through KY and into WV.  Scout susceptible cultivars in fields with a history of FLS infections, especially river bottoms.  Consider treatment if frogeye leaf spot lesions are found on younger leaves at the top of the soybean canopy
